ALEPH BET

EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER

Our School

Aleph Bet Early Childhood Center provides full-time and part-time options for children aged 13 months to 5 years old. Aleph Bet was founded based on Jewish values, traditions, and community. We pride ourselves on providing a close-knit community and child-led learning environment to enhance our student's learning and growth.

What makes Aleph Bet different?

Rooted in Jewish Values
Aleph Bet was founded in 2003 to provide a small, close-knit community to the Chattanooga Community. The Jewish values of Chesed (kindness), Tzedakah (Charity), and Tikkun Olam (Improve the World) are the foundation of Aleph Bet and are what guides the learning here at Aleph Bet. Children learn and are exposed to all Jewish Holidays, including a weekly Shabbat Snack. Community Members and Volunteers provide engaging learning opportunities for all ages at the school.

Child-Led Learning
Aleph Bet's curriculum philosophy is  an emergent curriculum which focuses on child-led learning and using the environment as the third teacher. Teachers are observers, documenters, and planners for their students. As children are exploring their classroom environment and the world around them, teachers are observing and documenting their learnings and interest. Teachers then provide additional learning opportunities and support for children to delve even deeper into their interests and early childhood learning and development.

Older Infants

Starting at 13 months, children are invited into a warm and welcoming classroom. Teachers provide a stable and loving environment to encourage growth and development. Providing individualized instruction and curriculum, children learn social-emotional techniques, self-regulation, and fine motor skills and small muscle development.

Toddler

As children transition to the Toddler classroom, they begin to take on more responsibility for themselves and their environment. Children continue to learn through play and are exposed to many different topics and learning. At this age, the focus is on pre-literacy, fine motor skills and small muscle development, and learning how to take care of themselves and their environment.

Preschool

Transitioning to Preschool 3s and Preschool-K allows children to take charge of their own learning and interests. Children continue to learn through play and exploration, and continue working on self-regulation, small muscle and fine motor development. Children interact and play with their peers, and learn through modeling how to interact with others and work together. In the Preschool-K program, children continue to work on their letter sounds, math skills, and learning skills to prepare them for Kindergarten.
